Winter break Ideas

santa-dont-leave

Those last few days of school’s winter break can be tedious. With Santa and Elf on the Shelf gone, we’ve lost the motivation to stay off the naughty list but got a few days left until the kiddos are back in school. Yup, we are counting the days until January 3rd. When the weather is super cold, where can families go to hang out? We really can’t play another board game and the kids are looking like zombies from too much screen time. We’ve put together a list our favorite places for parents and kiddos to visit to get out of the house and spend some quality time.

Lucky for us, there are still tons of things to get out and do.  So bundle up, head out and let’s have some fun!

Places for Sarpy families to hang out:

Sarpy YMCA open basketball and open swim (fee for non-members)

Papio Fun Park – indoor games are open

Bowling is season round at Papio Bowl

Sump Memorial Library, including leggo play, show & tell, and New Years at noon event

Sarpy County Museum

Henry Doorly Zoo, plenty of indoor exhibits and upcoming New Years at Noon on 12/31

Lauritzen Botanical Gardens, now showing Poinsettias

Mormon Trail Center, featuring Gingerbread festival

Get some pizza and play a few games at Pizza Ranch

The movies! Marcus Twin Creek or Alamo Draft House (check age policies prior to shows at the Draft House)

Defy Gravity  or BounceU – Defy Gravity is usually preferred for the older kids and BounceU set up for the younger kids.

Hunt for treasures at the Antique Mall

This certainly isn’t all the local places – Tell us where are you headed!
